The country’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp has increased price of its electric scooter VIDA V1 Pro around INR 6,000 in order to offset the impact of curtailed subsidy structure on electric two-wheeler coming into effect from june 1. The company’s flagship electric scooter VIDA V1 Pro will now be available at eggective price 1,45,900 including FAME II subsidy and portable charger. This is an increase of around 6,000 from the earlier pricing.
When reached, a business dealer verified the development, noting that the two-wheeler manufacturer had absorbed the most of the effects of the FAME II subsidy cut, which took effect on June 1, and had passed on only a small portion of the higher cost to prospective purchasers. A response from the corporation could not be obtained right away.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has decreased the maximum subsidy cap for electric two-wheelers from 40% to 15% of the ex-factory price.
According to industry sources, the FAME II modification resulted in a subsidy cut of approximately Rs 32,000 per unit.
Several electric two-wheeler companies have already raised the prices of their electric models in order to ensure long-term viability.
TVS Motor Company has claimed that in order to move the electrification journey forward in a sustainable manner following the amendment of the FAME II programme, it has increased the price of the iQube between INR 17,000 and INR 22,000 depending on the model.
In Delhi, the iQube base and S trims were formerly priced at INR 1,06,384 and INR 1,16,886, respectively.
Following the FAME II subsidy change, Ather Energy has altered the prices of their scooters, with the 450X now starting at INR 1,45,000 (ex-showroom Bengaluru).
The 450X with Pro Pack now starts at INR 1,65,435 in Bengaluru, an INR 8,000 increase. Ola’s electric scooter S1 Pro costs INR 1,39,999, S1 (3KWh) costs INR 1,29,999, and S1 Air (3KWh) costs INR 1,09,999.
The product range is now around INR 15,000 more expensive than before. Hero Electric has stated that the cost of its popular e-scooter models will not be raised. The company stated that it is still committed to encouraging the adoption of electric two-wheelers and eliminating myths about their ownership costs.
The Heavy Industries Ministry has announced that the demand incentive for electric two-wheelers will be INR 10,000 per kWh.
Incentives for electric two-wheelers will be limited to 15% of the ex-factory price, down from 40% currently.
The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (FAME) India initiative began on April 1, 2019 for a three-year period, which was extended for another two years till March 31, 2024.
